Outlaws look sharp in win over I-Falls

Brad Fossum has a solo home run against International Falls Wednesday, June 24 in Moose Lake.

The Outlaws looked sharp in a 6-2 win over I-Falls in Moose Lake on Wednesday, June 24.

Teddy Ryan pitched a complete game, striking out five, walking two, and sprinkling five hits.

The Outlaws had seven hits and were led by Brad Fossum with a solo homer, Rex Janke with a two RBI double, and Chris Carlson and Charlie Adamczak with a double. The Outlaws turned three double plays.

Ryan walked the lead off hitter. A sacrifice bunt moved the runner and a sharp single put runners on the corners. An error at third made it 1-0 as Adamczak tried to get force at second.

With runners on the corners, a wild pitch became quite a play by Fossum as he chased after it, ran back to the plate and lunged for the tag to save a run.

Ryan bounced to second. Fossum pulled a solo homer to the left corner for 1-1. Carlson grounded to third. Janke walked. Wyatt Lampel spanked a single through the left side, but Adamczak popped to first.

The Outlaws went through the top of the second 1-2-3 as Carlson handled a grounder to short, Ryan notched his second K and Chet Morgan took care of a foul at first.

I-Falls also had a 1-2-3 inning with Joey Whited popping to second, David Moonen flying to left and Hunter Halverson chasing a high fast ball.

Ryan fanned his third, Fossum squeezed a pop foul and Carlson took care of a grounder.

Ryan walked and Fossum grounded into a force. Carlson stroked a ground rule double to left. Janke's two RBI double past third made 3-1. Lampel walked. A wild pitch made it runners on second and third before Adamczak fanned.

With Whited at the plate,an errant throw down to third took it to 4-1. An error on Whited pop behind second made it 5-1 before Moonen struck out.

A roller up the middle was an error on the throw and it appeared the runner would be caught in a run-down but he managed to get back to first.

Adamczak took a one hopper, threw to second and it was a double play. Ryan walked his second. Carlson made a nice play from deep in the hole at short.

Halverson grounded to short, Ryan popped to short and Fossum flied to right.

An infield hit was legged out. Ryan struck out his fourth. The Outlaws turned their second double play.

Carlson struck out and so did Janke. Lampel bounced back to the mound.

A single was dropped into left. Lampel used some nifty footwork to turn the Outlaws third double play. Lampel took care of a roller.

Adamczak hit a stand up double to the left corner. Whited singled into right.

The Outlaws attempted a steal of home, but the runner was dead. A runner advanced to third on a wild pitch. Moonen's bouncer over the mound made it 6-1 before Halverson was out.

I-Falls threatened to rally as they got a stand up triple and a stand up double for 6-2. A roller to short was runners on the corners.

Hunter made a perfect play on a fly to center as gunned a long one to Fossum to cut down the tagging runner at home. Ryan closed out his complete game with his fifth strikeout.
