Rebels pitcher Ally Bode has 13 strikeouts against Deer River Monday, April 13 at Willow River.

Although the Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels' bats were a bit slow to fire up, the defense, led by Ally Bode's 13 strikeouts, was very good as MLWR ended up shutting out the Deer River Warriors 10-0 in six innings on Monday, April 13 in Willow River.

The Rebels committed only one error and Bode walked just three. MLWR out-hit Deer River 10-5. The Rebels were led at the plate by Lauren Pederson with two singles and a double, Bode with three singles and an RBI, and Suzy Grutkoski with a three-RBI double.

The Rebels started strong as Bode fanned the lead-off batter. Morgan Prachar retrieved a three-strike that got away at the back stop and fired to first to save a strikeout. Bode fanned the No. 3 hitter.

Pederson took a lead-off walk and stole second with Prachar at the plate. Prachar's grounder to the short advanced Pederson to third. Bode dropped an RBI single over third for 1-0. Jessica Paull hit into a double play.

The Warriors' clean-up hitter hit one right on third base for a single and Bode walked her first. A wild pitch allowed runners to advance to second and third. Bode got one looking, one swinging and another looking to pitch out of trouble as Deer River stranded two in scoring position.

Marissa Mikrot struck out. Grutkoski grounded out to second as did Laura Walker.

Bode struck out the first two she faced, but a double to deep center and her second walk ensued. Bode got one watching for her ninth K and to pitch out of trouble again.

Nicole Newham popped foul to third. Josie Benzie fanned. Pederson was hit-by-pitch. Prachar's hard drive to center became an error. Bode ran out a roller to load the bases, but the Rebels stranded three and it stayed 1-0 through three innings.

Bode notched K10 and K11 and got the next batter to ground to second.

The Warriors responded with a 1-2-3 as Mikrot struck out, Grutkoski chopped out to the pitcher and Walker fanned.

Bode issued her third walk. Prachar gunned down a steal attempt. A long single was driven to center. A fly to center was gloved by Pederson. A roller to third was well charged by Paull and Newham made a fine stretch at first to get out.

Newham grounded to short and Benzie rolled out to first. Pederson got a little help from a wicked hop at short and stole with Prachar at the plate. Prachar smashed a one-RBI up the middle. Bode followed suit with an RBI up the middle for 3-0. Paull dropped a single over first. Gabby Bennett pinch hit and walked to load the bases for Grutkoski who came through by ripping a three-RBI double for 6-0. Pederson scored on an errant throw on Walker's roller to second for 7-0. A wild pitch ensued, but the Warriors finally got out of the inning as Newham was looking.

A tough hop was booted by Grutkoski at short and Deer River was able to steal a base before Bode recorded her 12th and 13th strikeouts.

Benzie singled to center. Pederson pasted a ground rule double for runners on second and third. Prachar's grounder to third became an error and both runs scored for 9-0. Bode grounded to second. Paull closed it out with an RBI single for the 10-0 shutout win in six innings.
