Little Stores sold, will be renamed

Area Little Stores, like this one in Sturgeon Lake, were recently purchased by TravelCenters of America. With the sale, Little Stores will soon convert to the Minit Mart brand name.

TravelCenters of America is the new owner of Little Stores, purchased from the former Cloquet-based Best Oil Company.

It is reported TravelCenters of America, based in Westlake, Ohio, will convert nearly 20 Little Stores to the Minit Mart brand name.

With the former owners noting age and no successor to the business - owned by the McKinney family for three generations - they decided to sell, reported the Pine Journal.

Little Store convenience stores are located in Barnum, Carlton, Cloquet (three stores), Duluth (five stores), Esko, Floodwood, Grand Rapids, Hinckley, Iron River, Moose Lake, Proctor, Superior, Sturgeon Lake and Two Harbors.
