Drug arrests made

Christy Lee Brokerthayer, 35, Sturgeon Lake, and Clark Allan Broughton, 34, Willow River, were arrested at Brokerthayer’s residence on March 4 and each charged with three counts of possession of drugs in the fifth degree according to a Moose Lake Police Department complaint.

The complaint states that on March 4, a Pine County deputy sheriff, Moose Lake police officers and an officer from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources arrived at the residence of Brokerthayer and Broughton with a search warrant.

During the search, a pipe of the type commonly used to smoke methamphetamine was located in the bedroom shared by the two. The deputy performed an NIK (Narcotics Identification Kit) test on the pipe, and it tested positive for methamphetamine.

A wooden jewelry box on a desk in the bedroom contained a brown glass bottle containing four tablets identified by drugs.com as well as by an expert from the Poison Control Center as being morphine.

A pair of coverall pants located in the bedroom were found to contain one EBT card for Brokerthayer as well as two tablets identified by drugs.com and also by a Poison Control Center expert as hydrocodone.

The Moose Lake police officer informed the two residents about the meth pipe and the pills that had been located. Broughton admitted the meth pipe and pills belonged to them.

Both were arrested and taken to jail in Pine County, where they will appear in court.

Each count is a felony, and carries a maximum penalty of five years and/or a $10,000 fine.
