Jim Michalski

A home at 4326 Lee Road in Moose Lake Township is consumed by fire Sunday afternoon. The Moose Lake Police Department responded to the blaze about 4:30 p.m. with mutual aid from Kettle River and Barnum fire departments. Mercy Ambulance, the Moose Lake Police Department and Carlton County sheriff's deputies were also on scene. Moose Lake Police Department was first to arrive on scene and observed that the south side of the home was engulfed in flames. The officer was also told by the homeowner that he and his wife were safely evacuated from the home. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the family after the fire. The Carlton County Sheriff's Office reports the cause of the fire is believed to be from an ember from a stove pan emptied outside of the home. The home is a total loss.
