Barnum Bomber Mitchell Weller lands a three to help keep the Bombers on top.

The Barnum Bombers boys basketball team played back to back nights as they first headed to Carlton to take on the Bulldogs Friday, January 30, then they hosted the Woodbury New Life Academy Eagles on January 31.

The Bombers controlled the game early on against the Bulldogs. The Bombers appeared to be putting on a shooting clinic for the Bulldogs, dropping shot after shot. Early in the second half the Bombers pulled their first string players and still the Bulldogs could not get back into the game. Many of the second string players scored on the Bulldogs.

The Bombers walked away with an easy 94-48 victory over the Bulldogs.

Bombers host Eagles

The Bombers then hosted the Eagles of New Life Academy. This turned out to be a real test for the Bombers as the Eagles took the lead going into halftime, 26-22.

The second half, however, Brandon Newman came alive driving in after the basket and drawing the foul.

Newman went to the free-throw line 15 times and sunk 19 of 29 shots. Newman ended the evening with 38 points. Mitchell Weller was the next highest scorer for the Bombers with 10 points, three three-pointers and one free throw. Chris Carlson got into foul trouble early and only racked up eight points for the evening. Nathan Jelinek added three points for the evening, while both Andrew Naslund and Hunter Fetters scored single points from the free throw line.

The Bombers were able to squeak by the Eagles 61-57.
