The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels battle and beat the Wrenshall Wrens 61-46 January 23 in Willow River. The Rebels rocked the Wrens 61-46.

The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels boys basketball team rocked the Wrenshall Wrens 61-46 in Willow River on Friday, January 23.

Charlie Adamczak and Rex Janke led the Rebels with 20 points each. The Wrens were paced by Jesse Ellerbe with 11 points.

MLWR went 7-for-17 (41 percent) outside the arc. Wrenshall was 6-for-12 (50 percent) on their long attempts.

The Rebels were 11-for-27 (41 percent) in the paint. The Wrens were just 8-for-23 (35 percent) in and near the lane.

Combining the threes and the twos, MLWR was 18-for-44 (41 percent). The Wrens had a total of 14-for-35 (40 percent).

The Rebels had a decent night at the foul stripe shooting 13-for-18 (72 percent) on their free throws. Wrenshall went 8-for-14 (57 percent) from the line.

Wrenshall ended up out-rebounding the Rebels, but only by 22-19. MLWR had nine steals while the Wrens had only four take-aways. The Rebels had seven passes for scores while the Wrens had six assists. The Rebels did a good job of taking care of the basketball, committing only nine turnovers. The Wrens were plagued by 17 lost possessions.
