Rebels crush Bulldogs

 


The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels girls basketball team played another good game on both ends of the court to crush the Carlton Bulldogs 56-19 in Moose Lake on Thursday, January 15.

Adri Jusczak led the Rebels as she racked up 25 points. Ava Szczyrbak hit the double digits as she scored 10 points. Mackenzie Goranson and Jenna Reed each had five points for the Bulldogs with each hitting a three-pointer.

The Rebels went 1-for-6 (17 percent) outside the arc while Carlton was 2-for-6 on the threes. MLWR went 23-for-57 (40 percent) in the paint while the Bulldogs were only 5-for-34 (15 percent) in the lane. Summing up the threes and the twos, the Rebels went 24-for-63 (38 percent) while the Bulldogs went just 7-for-40 (18 percent).

MLWR added 7-for-13 (54 percent) from the free throw line. Carlton went 3-for-9 (33 percent) on its tosses.

The Rebels were very strong on the boards, out-rebounding the Bulldogs 33-21. MLWR racked up 15 steals while Carlton had only two take-aways. The Rebels had six passes for scores while the Bulldogs had three assists. MLWR did a decent job taking care of the ball as they had only nine lost possessions. Carlton suffered 24 turnovers.
