Peaceful sunrise

The sun rises quietly over Moosehead Lake at the city park recently. The favorite winter pastime of ice fishing is in full swing. With forecasts calling for temperatures in the high 20s and 30s for the next week, anglers are reminded to always check ice thickness. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources recommends the following general ice thickness guidelines: 2 inches or less, stay off; 4 inches, ice fishing or other activities on foot; 5 inches, snowmobile or ATV; 8-12 inches, car or small pickup; 12-15 inches, medium truck.
