Bomber boys soar over Cardinals

The Barnum Bombers boys basketball team traveled to the home of the Cromwell Cardinals January 6.

Bomber Brandon Newman spent much of the first half passing the ball, allowing his teammates to do the majority of the scoring. The Cardinals heavily covered Newman resulting in the Bombers trailing much of the first part of the game.

It was a fast-paced and physical game with members of both teams getting pushed around.

Most of the first half, Newman stood in the background passing the ball inside to teammate Hunter Fetters or any other teammate who happened to be open for the score.

The second half, however, was a different story as Newman picked himself up off the floor for the fourth or fifth time without a foul being called. Newman soon took it to the Cardinals, snaking his way through the defenders like only Newman can do. Soon, the Cardinals saw their lead disappear as the Bombers scored shot after shot.

The Bombers walked away with a 64-49 victory over the Cardinals.

In the Bombers boys' second game of the week, they joined the Lady Bombers in a trip up the North Shore to take on the Cook County Vikings, where the boys came away with an easy 94-19 victory.
