Snow sculpture of great proportion

Though only seasonal, Roger Tillman's Frosty, a sculpture of great proportion, stands proud along Highway 73, just one mile south of Kettle River.

Tillman, pictured with Frosty, says the creation of this snowy delight was no small feat. "The bottom section took two part days, the others one day, but after the first two sections that I started six-plus weeks ago, I ran out of snow. Actually, I had to go over half a mile away for snow to finish the top.The bottom is 13 feet across," said Tillman.

The towering snowman is 100 percent snow - no fillers - and was completed manually, says Tillman. During the process of making the snowman, safety was also considered. "I had a friend watch when I was on top in case I fell," he said.

Tillman says anyone is welcome to take photos of and with Frosty. At night, lights grace the massive snowman.
