Rebels run hard in Proctor meet

Rebels Meghan Granquist and Sydney Bexell run in the Proctor Lions Cross Country Invite October 14.

The Moose Lake/Willow River/Barnum cross country team ran in the Proctor Lions Cross Country Invite on October 14.

Medals were given to the top 15 varsity girls and boys runners along with ribbons to the top 15 junior varsity girls and boys and the top 40 junior high girls and boys. Once again, there were not enough junior high runners to make up a five-member team but that did not stop any of them from trying their best.

Junior high Rebels girls who received ribbons were Laya Danelski with an 11th place finish and Elaine Witkowski with 30th place.

Rebels junior high boys runner Lake Doran received a ribbon for his 19th place finish.

The junior varsity Rebels girls team had a second place finish with the top seven runners being Cloe Gamst receiving a ribbon for 12th place, followed by Brandi Lekander in 16th, Mallory Agurkis in 19th, Alexis Babcock in 25th, Lexi Tekippe in 28th, Lily Geil in 31st and Zita Surjan in 34th.

The varsity Rebels girls had a seventh place finish with Savannah Gamst finishing 18th, Sarah Michels in 3lst, Charis Blacklock in 40th, Sydney Bexell in 43rd, Meghan Granquist in 51st and Josephine Race in 53rd.

On the boys side, the junior varsity Rebels boys had a solid second place finish. Rebel Filipp Tychina received a ribbon for his sixth place finish as did Aaron Bode for his ninth place finish. They were followed by Tim Vogt in 17th, Ryder Anderson in 21st and Danny Whited in 22nd.

The varsity Rebels boys had a fourth place finish with Rebel Ethan Olson receiving a medal for his 12th place finish followed by Casey Tuel in 16th, Asa Spicer in 26th, Andrew Mikrot in 28th, Mark Fossum in 30th, Nick Fury in 47th and Jacob Danelski in 54th.

This was the last meet of the season for many of the runners, including senior Rebels girls Alexis Babcock, Maddie Geil, Haley Hoffmann and Merissa Stevens, along with senior Rebels boys runner Filipp Tychina.

Rebels senior Asa Spicer, along with the other varsity boys and girls will head to the Section 7A Championships in Cloquet on October 23.
