Gas drive-off leads to arrest

Vehicle found to be stolen

On September 11, at approximately 9 a.m., St. Louis County distributed information to area law enforcement regarding a gas drive-off they had in Proctor, in which the involved vehicle, a tan 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, was believed to be a stolen vehicle reported out of Cohasset. At that time, the vehicle was last seen heading toward Interstate 35.

At approximately 10:05 a.m., a Carlton County sheriff's deputy observed a tan Chevrolet Suburban with no license plates southbound on I-35 near the County Road 8/Highway 27 exit ramp to Moose Lake. The deputy observed the vehicle take that Moose Lake exit.

The Suburban was stopped by law enforcement near the intersection of Arrowhead Lane and Folz Boulevard in Moose Lake. It was confirmed this was indeed the stolen vehicle.

The driver and lone occupant, Danielle Lee Webster, age 22, of Cloquet, told the deputy she was going to the Moose Lake Correctional Facility to pick up her boyfriend who was being released from prison.

Webster was arrested and lodged at the Carlton County Jail. She was found in possession of two hypodermic needles and also admitted to throwing drugs out the window of the vehicle, but did not indicate exactly where.

Webster has been formally charged in Carlton District Court with felony receiving stolen property, illegal possession of a hypodermic needle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, no proof of insurance, and no driver's license in possession.

She is currently being lodged at the Douglas County Jail as a boarded inmate for Carlton County, pending her next court appearance on September 22. The district court judge set bail for Webster at $10,000 bond or $1,000 cash.
