Candidates advance

 


Results of the August 12 primary election advance the following candidates in local races to November’s general election:

– Carlton County Commissioner District 4: Susan Zmyslony (431 votes) and Mark Thell (359);

– Pine County Sheriff: Jeff Nelson (1,892) and Jared Rosati (920);

– Pine County Commissioner District 2: Joshua Mohr (433) and Brett A. Grinde (291).

The Independent School District 91 (Barnum) bond referendum failed, 709 votes against to 343 in favor.

In other primary elections, incumbent DFL Sen. Al Franken garnered 94.5 percent of the votes and will face Republican challenger Mike McFadden and Independence Party candidate Steve Carlson.

Gov. Mark Dayton will run against Independence Party candidate Hannah Nicollet and Republican Jeff Johnson in November.
