Bombers send Bulldogs to pound

Barnum Bomber Emily Miletich takes to the air during the December 9 game against the Carlton Bulldogs. The Bombers won 66-24.

The Barnum Bomber girls took on the Carlton Bulldogs on December 9. The game started slow for both teams, as there was no scoring in the first three minutes of the game.

It was a physical match-up between the Bulldogs and the Bombers, but it was Daron Mainville that broke the stalemate putting up the first score of the night for the Bombers.

Soon, all the Bombers had a turn putting up points as the Bombers outscored the Bulldogs 3.5 to 1 in the first half.

It was Myranda Papesh that was the leader for the Bulldogs putting up only five first half points, with Taylor Klassen adding three points and Karly Voge adding another two points.

The Bombers were led by senior center Daron Mainville with 12 first half points, followed by Emily Miletich with seven points, then Megan Nelson and Cheyanne Johnson both added six points, while Lissa Warpula and Lauren Hultgren came away with a pair each to give the Bombers a 35-10 lead going into halftime.

The second half, the Bulldogs did a little better. Papesh added to her first half score, but finished the night with only nine points, while Klassen ended the night with five points, Voge had four points, and Ashley Anderson put up three points. Amelia Groth had two points and Nikki Ojibway went to the line for one point.

The Bombers ended the night with three players in double figures as Mainville put up 19 points, followed by Miletich with 14 points and Johnson with 13 points.

The rest of the Bomber points came from Nelson with nine points, and Warpula, Hultgren and Emma Koski all contributed two points to give the Bombers a 66-24 point victory, advancing the Bombers to 2-0 on the season.
