10-year-old boy hit by vehicle


On October 31 at approximately 6:45 p.m., a 911 caller reported a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in the 800 block of 3rd Street in the city of Carlton. Carlton County Sheriff's deputies, along with Carlton Fire and Ambulance, responded to the accident.

The accident involved a vehicle traveling north on 3rd Street hitting a juvenile male that was crossing the roadway. The driver of the vehicle stated he did not see the child run out into the road until it was too late. Witnesses at the scene stated they saw a person run out in front of the vehicle which was traveling in front of them.

The child, a 10-year-old boy, was transported to Cloquet Memorial Hospital by Carlton Fire and Ambulance Service with an apparent leg injury.

Though the investigation is ongoing, no citations were issued to the driver of the vehicle.
