Bombers climb over Panthers

The Barnum Bomber girls basketball team hosted the South Ridge Panthers on Tuesday, January 8.

The Bombers came out of the locker room set to take down the Panthers. Daron Mainville and Cheyanne Johnson took command of the game in the first half, scoring 10 points apiece, followed by Emily Miletich with eight points, Lauren Hultgren with four points, and Megan Nelson and Jaelyn Bushey both with two first half points.

The Bombers headed into halftime with a 36-18 point lead. In the second half, Johnson came out on a mission, scoring from both the free throw line and beyond the arc, with 12 second-half points. Mainville joined in with eight second-half points. Miletich added five second-half points. Nelson also added four points, while Bushey came away with three points. Hultgren and Emma Casey both put up two points apiece.

The Bombers put up 36 second-half points, while holding the Panthers to only 24 second-half points. The Bombers continued to struggle with turnovers, with 12, but were able to come away with 21 steals.

Johnson once again led the Bombers with 22 points, eight rebounds, six steals and three assists. Mainville followed close behind with 18 points, five rebounds, two steals and two assists. Miletich ended the night with 13 points, three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Nelson put together six points, five rebounds, two steals and seven assists. Hultgren walked away with six points, two rebounds, one steal and one assist. Bushey scored five points, three rebounds, four steals and three assists. Casey came off the bench to add two points and three steals.

The Bombers walked away from the night with a 72-42 point victory.
