New security measures

Superintendent's Corner

Moose Lake Community Schools will be implementing a new practice of locking all outside doors at the school, except for two, during the school day.

We will keep the door by the elementary office and the door by the district office open during school hours. This will ensure that visitors entering the building will have to walk by an entrance where a secretary can see them entering. We will have all visitors sign in and sign out at one of the offices.

Older buildings were not built to meet some of the security issues needed today. One example of this is that the high school was designed for people to come into multiple entrances.

We realize that this will cause some inconveniences, but given the circumstances lately, we feel it is a prudent thing to do.

One of the benefits we see is that we have always wanted parents to drop their children off up by the district office to avoid busing issues that occur when parents drop their kids off by the gym. Now it will make more sense to drop your child off by the district office.

The handicapped accessible entrance will be the door by the elementary office during the school day.
