The Moose Lake Willow River Rebels’ Track and Field athletes will participate in the Section 7A finals on Thursday, June 10th, starting at 10:30 a.m. in Cloquet. The top two individuals and top two relays will qualify for the state meet which will be held June 17-19 at St. Michael-Albertville High School.
The top seven winners of individual events and top four relay events at the Sub Section advanced to the Sections. MLWR boys’ team finished in third place as a team with 108.5 points (Proctor was second with .5 more points than MLWR with 109).
The boys’ 4x100m relay team won 1st place: Jackson Thompson, Grant Petit, Jaxsyn Schmidt, and Carter Johnson. The 4x200m relay team won 1st place: Jackson Thompson, Grant Petit, Jaxsyn Schmidt, and Kaden Robbins. The 4x400m relay won 2nd place: Jackson Thompson, Sam Stadin, Joseph Mikrot, and Maverick Koecher. A new school record was set by the 4x800m relay team won 1st place with a time of 8:20.36: Zach Youngs, Sam Stadin, Joseph Mikrot, and Maverick Koecher. The previous record was set in 2011.
Kaden Robbins won 1st in 100m and 200m dash. Carter Johnson won 3rd in 100m dash and 1st in long jump. Maverick Koecher won 2nd in 1600m run. Landin Kurhajetz placed 4th in 110m.hurdles. Nick Jusczak won 4th in 300m hurdles and 5th place in Shot Put. Jackson Thompson won 2nd in Pole Vault.
MLWR girls’ team finished 6th overall as a team out of the 14 teams participating. The 4x100m relay team won 4th place: Alivia Menten, Evelyn Johnson, Lilly Petty, and India Johnson. The 4x400m relay won 4th place: Alivia Menten, Amelia Olson, Kelli Granquist and Skyla Thompson. The 4x800m relay team won 2nd place: Amelia Olson, Shannon Granquist, Brooklyn Wasche and Kelli Granquist. Kelly Granquist won 6th place in 800m run. Amelia Olson placed 5th in 1600m run. Skyla Thompson won 1st in 300m hurdles and Pole Vault. Malea Jerry place 7th in the Discus.
