For the last few weeks I have been pulling double duty here in the office, putting together both the Pine County Courier and the Star-Gazette. This week I was back to the regularly scheduled program of putting together just the Star-Gazette.
I have been really enjoying digging into the different communities covered in both papers. It has really shown me how unique and special each town can be. Learning the tiny idiosyncrasies of each community is one of my favorite things about bringing you community coverage.
Don’t get me wrong doubling my work load has not been at all pleasant. But the creativity that I have needed to use has been right up my alley!
Finding the time to cover all the great things happening in communities from Barnum all the way to Sandstone has been a scheduling chore. In college I was taught the six “P’s” of proper planning. Prior proper planning prevents poor performance.
This motto has served me well over the years! It made getting things ready for the crazy weeks I knew were coming important to do all the way back in April. Having a plan kept me level headed and ready for any bumps in the road, and there were plenty of those.
Now we are back to normal, that is until I jet off on a vacation in the coming weeks. Luckily, I have had a few weeks of practice on how to get things together in a pinch when planning gets tossed to the wayside. The six “P’s” will serve me well as I work ahead to leave you with the same great paper you have come to expect every week, even if I am out of the office on an adventure while you are enjoying it.
So, for now we are all back to our regularly scheduled programming here at the Star-Gazette!
