Robert D. “Bob” Ketchmark, 80, of Willow River, Minn. passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2021.
He was born in Sturgeon Lake to Anna and Tony Ketchmark on October 15, 1940.
Bob graduated from Willow River High School and was a proud member of the United States Army serving in Germany and owned the Corral Bar in Willow River for nearly 39 years. Bob married Mary Lou Johnson on January 26, 1963. Together they raised four children. Bob loved to socialize and make people laugh. Owning the bar was the perfect outlet for that. He will be remembered for his quick wit and one liners. He loved his family especially being a Grandpa and great Grandpa. He loved to golf, hunt, play cards and watch westerns on television. He was a dedicated Twins and Vikings fan and loved to follow the local Rebels football team. Bob was passionate about his military service and proudly served in American Legion Post 361 where he was Commander in the past.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Anna and Tony; wife of 43 years Mary Lou, sister: Fran Abrahamson; two brothers: Raymond and Dale.
Bob is survived by his daughter: Deonne (Allen) Lingle of Circle Pines; three sons: Scott of Glendale, Arizona; Bryan (Julie) of Sturgeon Lake; Chris of Willow River; granddaughters: Sara, Jenna, Stefanie, Alexandra, Kallysta and Adrienne; grandsons: Jacob, Adam, Tristan and Anthony; eight great grandchildren; three sisters: Irene Berger of Moose Lake; Barb Larson of Willow River; and Pat (Ron) Prachar of Willow River; two brothers: Frank of Wahkon and Eugene (Pat) of Garrison; numerous nieces, nephews and scores of friends and extended family. Bob will also be lovingly remembered by his special friend, Sharon Zimmer of Askov who made his last two plus years of life very happy and memorable.
A very special thanks to all who cared for and treated Bob, those offering comfort, sharing a joke and stories.
Per Bob’s wishes there will be no public services. Private burial with military honors to be conducted in the future. The family would like to invite friends and family to a special celebration of Bob’s life at the Corral Bar, Willow River on Sunday, October 17, 2021 from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
