Patrick Edmund Ring passed away on Dec. 17, 2022 at the age of 74.Â
A prolific stained-glass artist and gardener, Pat moved from Minneapolis to Sturgeon Lake in the mid 1970s after purchasing land along the Willow River. There, he spent his time building and growing his homestead, creating beauty in every corner for the enjoyment of himself and his family. Â
Inspired by the natural world, Pat filled his home and land with flowers, paintings, sculptures, and stained-glass pieces.Â
Battling episodes of cancer for over three decades, Pat ultimately died in the place and manner of his choosing, at home, among his friends and family.Â
Pat was preceded in death by his wife Connie Ring. He is survived by his brothers William and Daniel Ring, his step-children Cheryl and Ken Nystrom, and his grandchildren Kaitlyn Jacobsen, Ronan Nystrom, and Evelyn Nystrom. Per Pat’s wishes, his body was donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program.Â
A memorial service will be held sometime in the summer. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or to the Old School Arts Center, PO Box 535, Sandstone Minnesota, 55702, in Pat’s name.
