Barnum community says no to levy

Over 1300 surveys were sent out to residents that live in the Barnum School District. The surveys asked residents about their level of support for a referendum to increase the tax levy in the Barnum School District. One hundred and sixty-eight residents returned the survey. Results were presented to the school board at their regular meeting; 58% of those that responded were not supportive of a levy. Of those that responded 60.7% did not have a child or grandchild that attended the school.  The board determined that a levy would not be supported at this time, but would keep an eye open for alternative funding options.
