Bombers clinch second seed at sections

The Barnum Bombers traveled to Chisholm for their final regular season football game.

The Bombers struck first with Tony Robinson running three yards for the touchdown and Jake Nynas running in the two-point conversion in the first quarter of the game.

The second quarter saw the Bombers scoring again as Drake Weets pulled down a Tyler Nynas 14-yard pass and scored with Jake Nynas again running in the two-point conversion. Robinson took the one-yard reception from Tyler Nynas for the touchdown. Tyler Nynas kept the ball and ran in for the two-point conversion. Tyler Nynas also ran for 37 yards to claim his own touchdown run, with the two-point conversion pass failing.

The Bombers headed into halftime with the 30-0 lead.

Coming out of halftime the Bombers were still on the attack as Quinn Casey would run the ball into the end zone from seven yards out, with Robinson running in the two-point conversion, to add eight more points.

The fourth quarter had the Bombers adding one more score as Blaze Hurst took a one-yard run into the end zone, with the two-point conversion failing.

The Bombers would take the 44-0 victory over Chisholm to clinch the No. 2 seed for the Section 7AA football tournament to begin October 24.

Chisholm struggled against the Bombers as they would found no room to score. Barnum’s Tyler Nynas had six rushes for 53 yards, Robinson 10 rushes for 54 yards, Jake Nynas eight rushes for 36 yards, Casey six rushes for 43 yards, Dakota Litfin three rushes for 14 yards, Hurst four rushes for seven yards, Alec Anderson one rush for five yards, Brandon Nelson three rushes for threeyards, Reed Kornivich one rush for -one yard. Tyler Nynas attempted 11 passes with seven completions for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Weets had two receptions for 44 yards, Robinson one reception for one yard, and Jake Nynas one reception for 14 yards. Jared Haley had two receptions for 41 yards. Jake Nynas put together seven tackles and one interception, Sam Goodwin added seven tackles and one sack, Nathan Moors added five tackles. Hurst and Max Salzer added four tackles each. Ryan Weller had one kickoff for 14 yards, Garret Coughlin had five kickoffs for 162 yards, and Braiden Davis had one punt for 55 yards.

With the win over Chisholm, the Bombers advance to 6-2 on the season.

Defense: Jake Nynas, 91 tackles, two interceptions; Casey, 51.5 tackles, four sacks; Goodwin, 64 tackles, three sacks; Weets, 31 tackles, one interception; Nathan Moors, 47 tackles, one sack; Lane Asperheim, 40.5 tackles, four sacks; Tyler Nynas, 26 tackles, three interceptions; Salzer, 30 tackles, one interception; Noah Parker, 15.5 tackles, one interception; and Kielty, 13 tackles, one interception. Weller kicked off 26 times for 1,050 yards, while Kielty punted 26 times for 776 yards. Scoring: Tyler Nynas, five touchdowns and six two-point conversions for 42 points; Robinson, six touchdowns and two two-point conversions for 40 points; Jake Nynas, five touchdowns and three two-point conversions for 36 points; Casey, four touchdowns for 24 points; Weets, two touchdowns and one two-point conversion for 14 points; Kielty and Jared Haley had one touchdown each for six points; Weller, three extra point kicks for three points; and Asperheim, one safety for two points.
