Rebels race away with win at East Central

Rebel Maddy Olson, with 13 kills, hits past an attempted block at East Central on Monday, October 2.

The Rebels allowed the Eagles to score more than 10 points in only one game as MLWR raced away with a sweep at East Central on Monday, October 2 at East Central. The game scores in the one hour and 10-minute match were 25-8, 25-12, 25-8. The Rebel improved to 9-5 (7-3 regular season). The Eagles went to an overall record of 4-11. MLWR was hot on serve as it had 10 aces against only one service error.

Lauren Pederson played another good all-round volleyball match. Pederson had nine kills, two digs, one solo block and two aces. Maddie Olson, with her fifth double-digit match for kills, put away 13 in limited playing time. Olson added one solo block. Donna Mae Smith, who was averaging slightly less than six set assists per game, put up 24 tosses and she had one service ace on a short night. Jamie Benzie had two kills and eight digs and she led MLWR in service aces with four. Josie Benzie had eight digs and three aces. She is among the area leaders in serve percentage. Suzy Grutkoski had five kills and one dig. Ruby Mohelsky had four kills. Adre Dobosenski had one kill and one dig.

Kjersten Weisert, Kennedy Janke and Ellen Anderson each got their longest action and made good use of their playing time. Weisert had three set assists and one dig, Janke had two kills and one dig and Anderson had two kills.

Although East Central did not supply individual statistics, the Eagles did show good blocking abilities. Emmalie Beavens and Becca Jergensen each had one ace serve, but East Central had seven service errors.
