Highway 210 reopens

October 12, 2017

Lois E. Johnson

Aaron Gustafson, Minnesota Department of Transportation Resident Engineer, cuts the ribbon to officially open Highway 210 through Jay Cooke Park on October 4. The highway was extensively damaged in the 2012 flood, and citizen input was instrumental in the decision to repair and reopen the road. The $21.3 million project was funded with 80 percent Federal Emergency Funds and 20 percent State Emergency Funds. Extensive erosion control and monitoring systems were installed on the steep banks and the road was stabilized to prevent future damage from flooding and erosion. Other stakeholders in the project were Minnesota Power and the Department of Natural Resources.
