Man injured in crash

An Askov man received life-threatening injuries in a crash at the Banning Junction exit the morning of July 22.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, at 10:45 a.m. on July 22, a 2008 Volvo XC90 exiting from southbound Interstate 35 made a left turn to travel east onto Highway 23 and was struck by a westbound 2004 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, Steven Mark Christensen, 58, of Askov, was transported by helicopter to a hospital in the Twin Cities. He was not wearing a helmet according to the State Patrol.

The driver of the Volvo, David Bradley Nickles, 53, also of Askov, was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured according to the report.
