MLWR boys downed by Duluth Denfeld

Moose Lake senior Wyatt Lampel led the Rebels with one sacrifice fly RBI, one single and he scored one run.

The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels boys baseball team was downed 11-2 by the Duluth Denfeld Hunters in Moose Lake on Wednesday, May 24. The Rebels were out-hit 13-9 by the Hunters. MLWR hits were all singles, while Denfeld had a pair of doubles. Denfeld came in right around the .500 mark, while the Rebels went to 6-11 with the loss.

Jantzen Levy earned the win for the Hunters as he pitched four innings and struck out three with no earned runs.

Brendon Fogelberg pitched six and two-thirds innings and struck out two while walking three and allowed eight runs with six of those runs earned on nine hits. Danny Whited pitched one and one-third innings, struck out none and walked one and gave up three earned runs on four hits. Three Rebels struck out and only one walked.

The Hunters had three errors that led to two scores. The Rebels had four errors that led to three scores. MLWR stranded 10 runners, including six in scoring and the Rebels had no steals. Duluth Denfeld stranded seven runners, including six in scoring position. The Hunters had six steals, including two give-me steals and they cashed in on two of those thefts.

The following represents success for the Rebels: Wyatt Lampel, one sacrifice fly RBI, single, run; Mark Fossum, single; Whited, single; Nick Wegge, infield hit, run; Ian Coil, single; Fogelberg, single; Evan Hansen, single.
