Rebels drop Mercuries

 


The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels dropped the McGregor Mercuries in straight sets in a match that lasted only an hour at Moose Lake on Tuesday, October 11. The set scores were 25-14, 25-15, 25-16. The Rebels improved to 13-11 with the win while the Mercuries dropped to 3-16.

Ally Bode led the Rebels with 13 kills and 12 digs. Sage Gerard had five kills, three digs and two service aces. Ruby Mohelsky had five kills, three blocks and two digs. Maddie Olson had four kills and four blocks. Skyler Hoffman had 17 set assists and eight digs. DonnaMae Smith had 12 set assists, 12 digs and one service ace. Josie Benzie, among the team’s best serve receivers and top diggers, had a short and easy evening with seven digs and one service ace. Lauren Peterson had three kills and three digs. Steph Pasek and Adre Dobosenski each had two digs. Suzy Grutkoski had one dig.

Shelby Kelley led the Mercuries with eight kills, 18 digs and one service ace. Dakota Boyd had four kills. Abby Schoeben had 11 digs and two service aces. Lacey Baker had 10 digs. Kacie Boyd added one service ace.

Serves were of very little importance in the match. MLWR had four service aces, but six service errors. McGregor split the difference with four service aces and four service errors.
