Barnum Bomber Colton Ziegler is chased by the Giants as he runs the ball.

The Barnum Bombers football team hosted the Mesabi East Giants September 16.

The Bombers struck first as they put the first points on the board. The Giants, however, did not go unnoticed as they marched the ball to tie the game.

The night's big surprise was the Bombers bringing an air attack as quarterback Tyler Nynas put up 239 passing yards in only eight completions to six different receivers for four touchdowns. Colton Ziegler set a new school record with a 98 yards receiving touchdown. Ziegler also dominated with 179 rushing yards in 14 plays. Quinn Casey put up 30 rushing yards, while adding a touchdown on an eight yard pass reception. Jake Nelson got a touchdown for the Bombers on a 20 yard pass play, while Jared Haley scored his first varsity touchdown on an eight yard pass reception. Reese Parks grabbed the ball out of the air twice for 72 yards, while Logan McNulty rounded out the air attack with a 20 yard reception.

The Barnum Bombers picked up their first win of the season, 42-22 over the Giants.

Thanks Star Gazette and Dan Lingle for great local reporting. In spite of a few losses, we have had some explosive plays in our games and it's appreciated that you identify these.
