Victims report burglary in progress

On January 27, at approximately 4:50 a.m., the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the report of an intruder being in a Wrenshall home. The victims could hear someone moving inside their residence and the sounds of what they described as “dishes being broken.” The homeowner also indicated that he had a gun and he and his girlfriend had locked themselves inside their bedroom and told the dispatcher that nobody should be in their residence as they are the only two who live there.

Deputies from the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office arrived, as well as members of the Fond du Lac and Cloquet police departments. As they were about to enter the residence, they found a door to the breezeway that was forced open. Upon entering and announcing their presence, law enforcement personnel could hear a male’s voice yell, “I give up; I’m on the ground in here.”

Law enforcement encountered a 28-year-old male from Cloquet, Nicholes Roy Beck, who was placed under arrest and transported to the Carlton County Jail. Beck has been charged with first degree burglary and first degree damage to property.
