MLWR boys lead, but slip to Mora

 


The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels led 41-31 at halftime, but slipped to Mora as the Mustangs used free throws to win 75-66 in Moose Lake on Friday, December 4. The Mustangs had four players in double figures while MLWR had two players reach the double digits.

Each team got 18 points from outside the arc with Mora going 6-for-18 (33 percent) and MLWR going 6-for-20 (30 percent). The Rebels went 18-for-44 (41 percent) on two point field goals while the Mustangs went 16-for-50 (32 percent) on the twos. The combined field goal rate for the Rebels was 24-for-64 (38 percent) while Mora’s combined rate was 22-for-68 (32 percent). The Rebels scored 54 points on field goals while the Mustangs scored 50 points on field goals.

The difference came at the free throw line. Mora went 25-for-46 (54 percent) on its tosses while the Rebels were 12-for-17 (71 percent) at the stripe.

Mora out-rebounded MLWR 34-30. The Mustangs had 22 steals while the Rebels had 13 steals. MLWR had 12 assists while Mora had five assists. Each team had trouble taking care of the basketball as Mora had 19 turnovers and MLWR had 24 turnovers.

The Mustangs were led by Cal Wright with 26 points, including one three-pointer. Bryce Norby had 17 points, including three three-pointers. Brandon Mann had 16 points, including two three-pointers. Keaton Torell had 12 points. Benjamin Yoder and Casey Cheney each added two points.

The 0-3 Rebels play the 3-1 Bombers in Barnum on Friday, December 11 at 7:15 p.m.
