Cross country runs in Proctor invite

Moose Lake/Willow River/Barnum senior runners for the 2015 season are, front: Kyle Skelton and Andrew Mikrot; back, Nick Furey, Casey Koll, Nicole Tekippe and Ryder Anderson.

October 20, the Moose Lake/Willow River/Barnum cross country team was in Proctor for the Lions Invite. It was a cloudy, 45-degree day with 25 mph winds, which made for a not so nice wind chill.

The JV girls and boys teams both had a first place finish. The top 15 JV runners in both the girls and boys races received ribbons. In the girls race Kennedy Bryant was 5th in 24:32, Chloe Gamst 8th in 25:21, Meghan Granquist 10th in 26:00, Charis Blacklock 12th in 26:11, Coriella Sheetz 13th in 26:14, Lexi Tekippe 14th in 26:16 and Kelli Granquist 15th in 26:27. Ella Rhoades was 17th in 27:01, Alexis Oswald 21st in 29:28, Lily Geil 22nd in 29:33 and Faith Blomquist 25th in 31:29.

JV boys who received ribbons were Mark Fossum 2nd in 19:24, Casey Koll 4th in 19:50, Danny Whited 6th in 20:08, Tim Vogt 9th in 20:15, Lake Doran 10th in 20:21, Tan Dipman 11th in 20:26 and Sam Cloutier 12th in 20:28. Maverick Koecher finished 17th in 21:12, Michael Olson 20th in 21:30, Cooper Bexell 25th in 22:08, Levi Skelton 26th in 22:08, Evan Nelson 45th in 24:22 and Sean Jungers 51st in 29:04.

The top 15 varsity runners also received medals for their accomplishments. The girls varsity team placed fourth out of 10 teams. Sydney Bexell medaled in 10th in 21:05 followed by Savannah Gamst 17th in 21:55, Sarah Michels 24th in 22:41, Nicole Tekippe 27th in 22:58, Laya Danelski 29th in 23:11, Sophie Richardson 52nd in 24:47 and Mallory Agurkis 53nd in 24:47.

The varsity boys team also finished fourth out of 10 teams. Ethan Olson medaled with his 1st place finish in 17:13 followed by Kyle Skelton 16th in 18:44, Jacob Danelski 21st in 18:55, Henry Collier 28th in 19:12, Nick Furey 35th in 19:24, Aaron Bode 39th in 19:37 and David Webb 44th in 19:44.

This was the last meet of the season for all runners except for those who will run for the varsity teams at the Section 7A championships at the Cloquet Country Club October 29.
