Rebels sweep Bombers

The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels sweep the Barnum Bombers in three straight games in Moose Lake September 17.

The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels swept the Barnum Bombers in three straight games in Moose Lake Thursday, September 17. MLWR improved to a record of 7-3, including going 4-0 in a tournament in Pine City Saturday, September 12. Barnum dropped to a record of 2-8 with the loss.

Rebel junior Marissa Mikrot did a fine job filling in for Skyler Hoffman as setter. Mikrot was credited with 15 set assists. Ally Bode had six kills and 11 digs. Libbie Ring had six kills and 10 digs.

The Rebels had a very good night serving as they had 14 aces with only two service errors. Sage Gerard had five aces and Josie Benzie had four aces. Bode added three aces and Mikrot had two aces.

Emma Koski had 18 set assists for Barnum. Megan Laine reached the double digits with 12 kills. Emily Miletich had six kills. Alyssa Hunter and Aleah Orlowski each had 11 digs.

Barnum had nine aces and seven service errors. Laine had three ace serves. Lyric Lekander and Koski each had two aces.

The Rebels are at Duluth East on Thursday, September 24 before hosting the 6-1 Carlton Bulldogs on Tuesday, September 29 and the 3-3 Esko Eskomos on Thursday, October 1.

Barnum is at 4-0 South Ridge on Thursday, September 24 before hosting the 1-8 Two Harbors Agates on Thursday, October 1.
