Missing man located


On August 10 at approximately 8:35 p.m. Carlton County 911 received a call of a missing person in the 3100 block of Town Road 294 in Mahtowa Township. The caller reported that her 85-year-old husband who has dementia was missing from the their seasonal property for an unknown exact period of time.

After an extensive search, the man was located near the property in good health. He was evaluated and medically cleared by Mercy Ambulance Service.

The following agencies responded and assisted with the missing person report: Carlton County Sheriff's Office, Moose Lake Police Department, Minnesota State Patrol and Minnesota State Patrol Flight Unit, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources along with their K9 Unit, Mahtowa Fire Department, Barnum Fire Department, Mercy Ambulance and Carlton County Mounted Posse, along with several local residents familiar with the geography of the area.
