Carlson pitches Outlaws past Esko

 


Chris Carlson struck out 11 and allowed only two hits as he threw a complete game, helping his Outlaws to beat Esko 6-2 in Moose Lake on Tuesday, July 7. Carlson helped his cause with an RBI double. Jessie Granfors also had an RBI double and Brad Fossum had an RBI single as the Outlaws out-hit the Eskomos 9-2.

Carlson walked the lead-off hitter and hit the next with a pitch before getting his first K on a nice curve. A stand-up double made it 2-0. With runners on second and third and a rap to short, the Outlaws erased the lead runner in a run-down. Carlson closed out the inning by catching an Esko batter looking.

Teddy Ryan flied to center, Brad Fossum watched a curve. Carlson walked but Rex Janke bounced to short.

Carlson got the first batter looking. A grounder to first was handled by Chet Morgan. Carlson snagged a hopper.

Wyatt Lampel walked. Charlie Adamczak dropped a single into left. Granfors fanned on a high one. Joey Whited singled into left for bases loaded. Hunter Halverson walked for an easy RBI and 2-1. Ryan was out on an infield fly, but Fossum walked to tie it 2-2. Carlson hit into a force at second.

Carlson got another looking, a pop foul was gloved by Morgan and Carlson fanned his fifth for a 1-2-3 inning for the Outlaws.

Janke reached on an error at short. Lampel flied to right. Adamczak hit into a double play.

Adamczak took care of a two-bouncer at third. Halverson camped under a fly out and Fossum gunned out a ground out for another 1-2-3 for the Outlaws.

Granfors singled into right and stole before Whited fanned. Halverson singled up the middle. With Ryan up, a wild pitch allowed Granfors to race home standing up for a 3-2. Ryan rapped back to the mound, but Fossum came through with a single through the left side to make it 4-2. With Carlson up, Fossum stole second plus an errant throw down allowed him to take third before Carlson popped foul to third.

Carlson struck out the side in the top of the fifth.

Janke singled into left and so did Lampel. Adamczak was caught watching. Granfors doubled into left for 5-2. Pinch runner Bryceton Butkiewicz was out trying to take third. David Moonen got an opportunity to pinch run, but Whited bounced to second.

Esko got its second hit with a single through the left side. A rocket went off Adamczak’s glove. Carlson respond by fanning his ninth and 10th and picking an Eskomo off second.

Halverson flied to left. Ryan lined out to first. Fossum walked and stole with Carlson up before Carlson drove him in with a double to deep center for 6-2. Hunter Lake got a chance to pinch run with Janke up and advanced on a wild pitch before Janke flied to center.

The Outlaws polished it off in style with a fly to center, a called strike on the inside corner and a tap back to the box.
