Once is fun, but twice is nice. The Barnum girls' golf team will play in the 2015 State Class A Golf Tournament as the Section 7A representative for the second consecutive year.

After dueling with rival Mille Lacs (Isle/Onamia) all season during Great River Conference play, the two teams faced off during the Section 7A tournament May 19 and 20 at The Quarry at Giants Ridge in Biwabik, along with teams from Northwoods, Ely/NE Range and Mesabi East. In what was essentially a two-team race for the section championship, Barnum held a slim 5-stroke lead over Mille Lacs after Day 1. Day 2 of the tournament was a different story. The Barnum girls came out determined to defend their section championship and return to the state tournament. Senior Kelsey Timm and sophomore Jamie Bird both carded 95s, which, along with sophomore Brandi Lekander's 100, led the Bombers in Day 2 of the tournament. Timm, Lekander and Bird also finished in the top five overall scores for the 37 girls who played during the tournament. These scores along with the help of teammates, freshman Madeline Nelson (110), sophomore Geana Guillard (114), and sophomore Emilia Scherk (116), helped edge the Mille Lacs Raiders by 29 strokes, sending the Bombers back to the state tournament. The 2015 State Class A Golf Tournament will be held at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker June 9-10.

The Bombers also finished the season undefeated in Great River Conference play, winning the conference championship for the first time in school history. Timm, Lekander, Bird, and Nelson were awarded Great River Conference All-Conference Honors for their performance during the 2015 golf season.
