'Old Jake's Skirts' to be performed in Iowa

 

County Seat Theater Company of Cloquet is proud to announce its production of "Old Jake's Skirts" won the honor of performing at AACTFest 2015 Region V festival to be held at Newton Community Theatre in Newton, Iowa, April 23-26.

County Seat Theater Company of Cloquet is proud to announce its production of "Old Jake's Skirts" has won the honor of performing at AACTFest 2015 Region V festival to be held at Newton Community Theatre in Newton, Iowa, April 23-26.

To be eligible to perform at the AACTFest 2015 Region V festival, County Seat Theater Company performed at the Minnesota Association of Community Theatres MACTFest 2015 state festival in March. In addition to winning the MACTFest state festival, the production was honored with Festival Adjudicator Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Scenic Design, Sound Design, Acting Ensamble, Acting - Harold Haapoja and Joel Soukkala.

County Seat Theater Company is hoping to receive top honors at the AACTFest 2015 Region V festival so it may perform at the national community theatre festival this summer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. AACTFest 2015 will take place June 23-28 and will showcase 12 community theatre productions from across the United States and the U.S. Military Overseas.

AACTFest 2015 details are available at aactfest.org/15. The public is invited to attend both the regional and national festivals.

This will be the County Seat Theater Company's second appearance at the regional level. "It is such a great honor to be able to compete at the regional and national levels," said Joel Soukkala, general manager. "It is a competition, but the love actors from across the country show to each other for a job well done is worth the hard work." "We learn from each other and share in secrets that make our individual companies a success. It is like meeting up with long lost relatives." The County Seat Theater Company is holding two encore performances of "Old Jake's Skirts" on April 19 and 20 to help with expenses to get to the regional competition. "Both shows are already sold out. We have great local support of our little theater. Our patrons want to see us succeed," said Soukkala.

AACTFest is a program of the American Association of Community Theatre. It is a biennial event that has been held since 1969.
