Truck, train collide

About 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, while attempting to cross the railroad tracks, a pickup truck is struck by a Union Pacific train traveling northbound at the crossing on Erickson Road, just off Highway 23 north of Duquette. According to the Pine County Sheriff's Office, the driver of the pickup, Daniel Koecher of Kerrick, declined medical attention and no one was transported from the scene. The crossing was blocked for about two and a half hours because of the collision.

Pine County Sheriff's Office deputies were assisted by the State Patrol, Kerrick Rescue Squad and Mercy Ambulance. The case is open pending further investigation as to any possible charges reports the sheriff's office.

This same crossing was the site of a logging truck/train collision in October 2014.
