Rebels bring senior leadership to field

The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels varsity baseball team's season begins with an April 7 game in Floodwood at 4:30 p.m.

Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels varsity baseball head coach Matt Niedzielski has strong senior leadership to bring to the field. The coach is assisted by Bryce Rushmeyer and Scott Battaglia with managers Lexi Crocker, Jenna Ramberg and Becca Wright.

"We were 8-4 and co-Polar League champions with Barnum and Esko last year," the coach recalled. "We lost our first playoff game. We feel the program is moving in the right direction. We have high numbers with lots of potential and strong senior leadership."

The varsity will likely include the following players: Charlie Adamczak, Joey Whited, Brad Fossum, Kody Gerard, Eric Prachar, Chet Morgan, Teddy Ryan, Rex Janke, Jesse Granfors, Wyatt Lampel and David Moonen.

Other players with the Rebels are Ikki Kinoshita, Brady Witkowski, Randy Jugasek, Justin Hibke, Kyle Zimmerman, Joesph Crowley, Sean Green, Brendon Fogelberg, Ethan Meyer, Aaron Bode, Ian Coil, Joe Weidendorf, Shawn Bellazan, Mark Fossum, Remington Stark and Jacob Haglund.

The Rebels start the season with two away games. The first game is Tuesday, April 7 in Floodwood at 4:30 p.m. The second game is Tuesday, April 14 in Silver Bay at 4:30 p.m. The first home game is set for Thursday, April 16 against Carlton at 4:30 p.m.
