Rebels take Agates in three

 

The Rebels take the Agates in three games September 11.

The Moose Lake/Willow River Rebels hosted and took the Two Harbors Agates in three games on Thursday, September 11. Game scores were 25-17, 25-22 and 25-17.

Lauren Ross had 13 set assists and added three ace serves for the 7-2 Rebels. Karina Cisar was credited with four kills. Scarlett Anderson had three aces.

Two Harbors started with an ace, but then erred on a pass. Ross aced. Two Harbors hit long, but followed with a kill to the back line for 3-4. Ally Bode hit the net on a cross court attempt, but Two Harbors erred on serve. Alyaa Ruberg set Ayla Lemke for a kill. Ross set Adri Jusczak for a crush. Ellie Riihiluoma rotated in to serve, but Anderson hit long and Cisar also hit long as it closed to a point before Ross smartly pushed a point for 9-7.

Bode aced, but Ruberg set Rheanna Nelson for a kill and Anderson netted a try. Ross set Cisar and Two Harbors hit into the ceiling on Anderson's hot serve. As Ross set Cisar for a cross courter the Rebels took a 13-9 lead before Briana McGrath got an attack. A cross court try went wide and Casey Cross was wide from the middle for 12-16 and a missed bump cost the Agates another point. Bode netted a try but an Agate erred on serve and another hit wide for 19-13 Rebels. Jusczak put a big block on Lemke and Libbie Ring aced. Two Harbors called time down 13-20.

Jusczak missed into the net. Although Ring had a nice dig, the Rebels miscommunicated on the pass for 22-14. An Agate hit long but Ruberg set Lemke for a kill and Shelby Marksmeir had two aces before a service error at 24-17. Two Harbors blew a pass and the Rebels had game one 25-17.

Ross started game two with an ace. Jusczak hit wide and Ruberg tipped. Two Harbors struggled on a pass, but Linnea Nelson got a kill. Jusczak killed. The Rebels were called in net, but Jasmine Hiukka erred on serve. Lemke netted a try and Cross hit long for 7-7.

The Rebels were unable to chase a deep hit, but Ruberg erred. Two aces by Anderson made it 11-8. Nelson netted a try and with Ring ripping an attack the Agates called time down 8-13. Anderson fired two more aces and the Agates blew a pass before Lemke tipped for 9-16. McGrath was long and Ruberg tried her hand at a hit and missed into the net for 18-9, Rebels.

The Rebels failed to pass a bump but soon it was Cisar on an attack and Sage Gerard killing off a Ross set for 20-10. Two Harbors netted two successive tries and netted a tipped. The Rebels passed one into the net. Maddie Ross had a good dig but Ross was unable to scrape it out of the net. Four hits went on the Rebels for 16-21. McGrath netted a try and the teams exchanged service errors. A very long rally ensued with the Agates hitting the back-line. The Rebels miscommunicated but an Agate erred on serve for 23-20, MLWR. Gerard exchanged an ace for an error. Rheanna Nelson killed for 22-24. It was Cisar crushing the winner off a pretty set by Ross for 25-22.

The Rebels started strong in game three as Ross set Ring to the corner. The Agates failed to pass, Ross tipped and Two Harbors hit long for 4-0. McGrath set Linnea Nelson for a cross courter, but Lemke missed her serve. Cross attacked and Hiukka aced. Two Harbors was called over the net. Maddie Ross came in to serve. Nelson got a cross court kill for 4-6. Ross set Jusczak for a kill but Rihilluoma missed her serve for 5-7.

Three service errors ensued. Ross tipped. Two passes were not made by the teams. Maddie Ross missed a hit but a Two Harbors bump was too long. Maddie Ross dug but the Rebels failed to pass. Nelson killed but Lemke netted a try and a Rebel bump fell for 13-10. Maddie Ross missed a serve but Gerard killed off a good set by Ross. Cross killed but the Agates erred on serve. Two errors were exchanged before Tayler Smith fired two aces for 18-13 and the Agates called time.

Smith erred on serve and Ruberg aced. Two hits were called on the Agates. Two Harbors missed a kill and Bode caught the line for 21-15. McGrath was long and Ring blocked McGrath but a Rebel erred on serve for 23-16. Rihilluoma set Ring for 24-16. Linnea Nelson got a push to the corner but a passing error ended it at 25-17, 3-0.
