Rebels send seven to state
The Moose Lake/Willow River boys and girls track and field teams had good success at the Section 7A track and field meet held at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) on Thursday, May 29 as they qualified seven athletes to head south to the state meet to be held at Hamline University on Friday and Saturday, June 6 and 7.
Jon Evenson further jumped into the record books as he improved his school record in the long jump by leaping 21 feet, 5 inches. Evenson doubled on the day as he also won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.26.
Evenson anchored the boys 4x800-meter relay that finished second to qualify with a time of 1.34.02. Other members of the team helping to punch that ticket were David Moonen, Josh Petterson and Milan Dragicevich.
Karina Cisar qualified in two individual events by placing second in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash. Cisar ran the 100 in 12.86 and the 200 in 26.68.
Also heading to state will be Kennedy Bryant. Bryant had a second-place leap in the long jump of 15 feet, 2½ inches.
