Local Memorial Day Services

 


Moose Lake American Legion Post #379

A tradition since 1920

Under the auspices of the Moose Lake American Legion Post #379, the annual Memorial Day program is presented in collaboration with the Moose Lake Community Band, Autumn Voices, Boy Scout/Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts/Brownies, and the American Legion Honor Guard. The program will be at the Moose Lake High School gymnasium at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 26.

Posting of the colors by the Moose Lake American Legion Honor Guard. Introduction and welcome by Dean Paulson, Master of Ceremony. Guest speaker is Terry Haggemeir, retired Air Force Brigadier General.

At the conclusion of the program, all are invited to join the groups as they march to the Moose Lake Area Veteran's Memorial Park, where the traditional service will be conducted. Following the service at Veteran's Memorial Park, coffee and cookies will be served by the Moose Lake Area Historical Society at the Depot on Folz Blvd.

Barnum-Mahtowa

Peterson Westerberg American Legion Post #415 of Barnum will conduct Memorial Day services at the Barnum High School auditorium on May 26 at 10 a.m. Music provided by the Barnum High School band, directed by Jeff Gilbertson. Guest speaker and officiate is Pastor Denton of Hope Lutheran Church of Moose Lake. Concluding at Riverside Cemetery in Barnum.

Services will be at Mt. Salem Cemetery at Mahtowa directly following services in Barnum. Pastor Noah Johnson of Salem Lutheran Church will be the guest speaker.

Willow River

Willow River American Legion Post #163 Memorial Day services will be held Monday, May 26 at 10 a.m. in Willow River; 11:30 a.m. in Rutledge.

Sturgeon Lake-Denham

Denham/Sturgeon Lake American Legion Post #361 Memorial Day schedule for Monday, May 26:

St. Isidore's Catholic Church at 9 a.m.

Blomskog Cemetery at 9:20 a.m.

St. Isidore's Catholic Cemetery at 9:40 a.m.

Sturgeon Lake Village Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Nordlund Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

Faith Lutheran Cemetery at 10:45 a.m.

Methodist Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Kettle River

The Kettle River American Legion and Auxiliary will hold Memorial Day services on May 26, at the following locations:

St. Peter's Cemetery at 10 a.m.

West Side Cemetery/Polish National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

St. Joseph's Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Beaver Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.

A potluck lunch will be held at the Kettle River Senior Center following the services.

Cromwell-Wright

Korhonen-Hokkanen VFW Post 8299 Floodwood Memorial Day services on May 26:

Cedar Valley Cemetery at 8 a.m.

Van Buren Cemetery at 9 a.m.

Hope Lutheran Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Fine Lakes Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Veterans Memorial in Wright at noon.

Carlton

The Carlton VFW Color Guard will hold Memorial Day services on May 26 at the following locations:

Eagle Lake Cemetery at 7:45 a.m.

Cromwell Cemetery at 8:10 a.m.

Atkinson Cemetery at 8:50 a.m.

Elim Cemetery at 9:30 a.m.

Oak Lake Cemetery at 9:55 a.m.

Nickerson at 10:25 a.m.

St. Johns Cemetery (Wrenshall) at 11:05 a.m.

Hillside Cemetery (Carlton) at 11:30 a.m.

Everyone is welcome to attend and honor veterans.
