Young philanthropists

A group of seven Willow River Elementary School fourth grade philanthropists are all smiles following a shopping trip to Sonshine Closet in Moose Lake April 10. With the goal of restocking the nurse's office clothing supply, the girls worked together selling rubber band bracelets during lunch hour at a cost of 25 cents each, raising a total of $57 in a short two-week period.

"I'm blown away that on their own they thought to do this," said Eileen Quittem, school nurse. "Every day they were filled with so much joy ... It's pretty amazing that they would care so much about other people to do this," said Quittem.

The group shopped under the direction of Quittem and fourth grade teacher Nikki Molis. They were able to purchase items including footwear, sweatpants and T-shirts, with funds to spare.
