Rebels hockey players play in Reebok Minnesota Hockey Festival
The Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance programs are designed to identify and develop the best players in Minnesota and to provide the top players from each section a chance to play with and against the best players in their area and the state. The girls and boys, age 16 and age 17, are each set up in teams from the eight state sections after a tryout process.
For the boys, 20 players were selected from about 60 players. The festival was held this past weekend April 4-6 at the Plymouth Ice Arena with each team playing three games.
The Rebels girls are in Section 7A/AA and the Rebels boys are in Section 5A/AA.
Jamie Bird and Jessica Bird competed in the girls' 16 bracket and Jessica Paull and Karina Cisar competed in the girls' 17 bracket. Each of the girls' teams had one win in three games, with the girls' 17 team taking fourth place in their bracket.
Bryceton Butkiewicz competed on the boys' 16 team, which took consolation with an overtime loss and two wins in their bracket. Bryceton, a point leader on his team, scored in each of the games. One goal in game one, one goal and one assist in game two, and two goals in game three gave him a total of five points for the weekend.
