Three Thunder women named to MCAC Northern Division team
Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College point guard, freshman Shaelyn Halverson, former Moose Lake/Willow River Rebel, is selected to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Third Team. Halverson averaged 17 points and 2.2 steals per game for the Thunder.
Three members of the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder women's basketball team received recognition for outstanding play and performance during the 2013-14 season.
Freshman guard Claudia Turner of Esko was one of only five players selected to the All-Division First Team in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division. Turner had an outstanding season, leading the Thunder in scoring and finishing second overall in the Northern Division statistics, averaging 22.9 points per game. She was also among the conference leaders in 3-point shooting percentage (26 percent), free throw percentage (71 percent), steals per game (2.2) and assists per game (3.6) averages. Turner had been selected as a Northern Division-Conference Player of the Week twice during the regular season.
Sophomore forward Kami Diver of Cloquet and freshman guard Shaelyn Halverson of Moose Lake were selected All-Division Honorable Mention Third Team in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Northern Division. Diver was among the Northern Division statistical leaders with a 7.8 rebounds per game average, a 74 percent free throw average, a 29 percent 3-point shot average, and posted 3.0 assists per game. Halverson posted a 27 percent 3-point shooting average and 2.2 steals per game, she also led the team individual scoring in several games this season.
The Thunder women's basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 6-16 and posted a 3-9 record in MCAC Northern Division games.
