Bomber boys flying high

The Barnum Bomber boys basketball team took to the road last week, first battling Duluth Denfeld on January 9.

The Bombers defeated Denfeld 69-51. Brandon Newman led the Bombers with 15 points; Dakota Haley added 13 points; and a trio of boys score 10 points for the Bombers, Zac Carlson, Andrew Naslund and Chase Peterson. Tory Slater contributed four points, while Nate Jelinek added three. Finally, rounding out the scoring for the Bombers with two points apiece was Hunter Fetters and Mitchell Weller.

Barnum vs. Cook County

Next, the Bombers took the long bus ride to Cook County to take on the Vikings January 10.

The Bombers again were led by junior Newman with 23 points. Next, it was Carlson with 17 points, followed by Slater and Haley with seven points each. Cory Buchanen and Jelinek added five points apiece. Naslund and Peterson both added three points for the Bombers, while it was Tanner Fuglestad contributing the final two points to give the Bombers a 72-37 victory over the Vikings.

The Bombers invite fans to recognize the retirement of Ron Metso's basketball jersey and the dedication of the trophy case on January 17 in the Barnum gymnasium during half time of the varsity game against Carlton, with cake and coffee following the game.
