Barnum boys crush Braham
Barnum Bomber Hunter Fetters puts back the rebound.
The Barnum Bombers hosted the Braham Bombers for their boys basketball season opener on November 26.
This was Barnum's first season as a section 7AA competitor. Zac Carlson was first to strike for Barnum, putting up an outside jumper for three points. It didn't take long before Brandon Newman made his presence felt launching an outside shot for three points. A combination of Tory Slater and Hunter Fetters dominated below the basket, grabbing rebounds to prevent Braham from scoring. Newman and Carlson both put up 15 points in the first half, while Fetters had four points and Slater put up two. Andrew Naslund was the only other scorer for Barnum in the first half with two points coming off the bench.
Braham's John Larson led the team in the first half putting up nine points, while Zach Dahlman got six first half points, all from the outside. Ryan Larson came away with four first half points, while Connor Tschumper added three points.
The Barnum Bombers were in the lead going into half time 38-22.
The second half, Braham faired only a little better, scoring an additional 26 points. Most of Braham's second half points came from either the three point range of the foul line, as Slater and Fetters continued to dominate the space below the basket. John Larson put up nine second half points, while Ryan Larson added five points. Dahlman was held to only three second half points, while Nick Jones came off the bench for three points. Tschumper, TJ Husnick, and Richard Hanson all added two points.
For Barnum, it was Nate Jelinek that came alive and led the team with nine second half points. Newman put up eight points, while Carlson added seven points. Fetters contributed four points, while Naslund and Mitchell Weller came off the bench to add two points.Cory Buchanan added one point from the three point line.
The Barnum Bombers won their season opener 71-48 over the Braham Bombers.
