Barnum Bomber girls dominate Sauk Rapids
The Barnum lady Bombers opened their first 7AA season taking on Sauk Rapids-Rice. Sauk Rapids' season started out on the down-side with a discrepancy with the scorer's book giving them a technical foul right from the start, giving the Bombers the chance to go before the clock started.
Barnum's Cheyanne Johnson was not able to capitalize on Sauk Rapids' misfortune as her free throws did not fall. She did, however, make up for it with a long two point shot from just inside the three point line to put the Bombers on the board first.
Johnson led the Bombers in the first half with 15 points, while Daron Mainville followed close behind with 13 points. Megan Nelson also made her presence felt going after the basket and putting up nine first half points, while Emily Miletich came off the bench to add two points in the first half.
Sauk Rapids was only able to muster 14 first half points, giving the Bombers a 39-14 lead going into half time.
In the second half, Sauk Rapids did not fair much better, only putting up 12 points, while the Bombers continued to roll, with Mainville putting up an eight points and Miletich adding eight. Lauren Hultgren found her way to the basket for six points, while Nelson added two points in the second half.
The Bombers took their season opener 63-26.
