Burglary suspect's bail set at $20,000

Melissa Madelyne Zielinski, 40, Sandstone, appeared in Carlton County court in front of Judge Dale Wolf on Monday, October 28, with her attorney, Joanna M. Wiegert.

Zielinski had been charged with two counts of Burglary in the Third Degree (Aid and Abet) enter shipping containers belonging to Hunt Electrical and enter a building on September 25, 2013, with the intent to commit a crime at the Mercy Hospital construction site.

Wiegert requested that bail be set.

Prosecuting Attorney Michael Boese stated that bail be set at $20,000 with $2,000 cash.

Wiegert argued that bail be reduced to $10,000 and $1,000 cash.

Judge Wolf pointed out that bail should be set for $40,000 and $4,000 cash for both files and that the defendant had numerous prior cases.

Bail was set at $20,000 and $2,000 cash.

Zielinski will appear in court again on November 20 at 9 a.m.

Hobson-Johnson in court

Daisy Nell Hobson-Johnson, 55, Moose Lake, also appeared before Judge Wolf in a pre-trial hearing. However, her attorney, Kevin C. Cornwell, stated that he needed time to meet with his client.

Hobson-Johnson has been charged with Emergency Telephone Calls/Communications - Interrupt, Interfere, Impede, Disrupt 911 call, and Domestic Assault.

Judge Wolf said that Hobson-Johnson will appear in court again on Wednesday, October 30 at 10 a.m.

Both Zielinski and Hobson-Johnson were in custody.
